1. We spent the entire period going over the first half of the practice exam.
2. Mr. Kleiner was disappointed that about 70% of the students had not even completed the practice exam on their own. Students only put effort into learning if they get a reward for it such as points. Otherwise they don’t do it and this is a shame.
homework: complete the practice exam so we can finish the rest of it tomorrow.

1. We had a discussion about what we learned from the Rube Goldberg project. Popular lessons learned from all classes were that engineering projects require lots of time and planning. Also, students learned that it is not easy to give an entertaining and engaging presentation to a group of people. You need to speak loudly, you need to have good visuals, you need to know what you are talking about.
2. Students began working on a review packet for the final
homework: finish the review packet

1. We saw a video of an ideal black body radiation emitter. A black carbon block was heated up to a temperature of 2000 degrees celsius and the carbon was so hot that it gave off light and glowed.
2. We discussed how the common incandescent light bulb works the same way. Tungsten metal inside the light bulb is heated up so much that it gives off light.
3. We had a discussion on Google and Mr. Kleiner took student questions about how Google worked.

1. We had a class discussion in which we discussed how to build a thermos. We learned that insulation is required (vacuum) and silvering is required (to stop radiation)
2. We discussed how the space shuttle must rely on radiation to get rid of its excess heat.
3. We watched some videos on a thermos and also a video on cryogenically frozen materials.
