Global Warming Project

The global warming project is due Friday, December 5 at the beginning of class. The entire project must be created on 8.5 x 11 paper and stapled together into a packet. Be good to the environment and use both sides of your 8.5 x 11 paper. The project should contain the following three items:
(8 points) A diagram that you create to demonstrate the concept of global warming. The diagram can be hand drawn or created using a computer graphics program, but you must create it yourself. Do not simply find a diagram on the internet and copy and paste it! The diagram must contain the following items at a minimum: sun, earth, atmosphere, CO2, solar radiation, terrestrial radiation, at least 3 sources of greenhouse gases.
(2 points) An article about global warming that you feel is particularly interesting and informative. The article can be pro or anti global warming. The article can focus on the entire concept of global warming, or it can focus on a small subset of the problem, such as car emissions. It is up to you.
(5 points) A written explanation of why you chose the article and why you think it is interesting or important to share with others.
(5 points) At least 3 pictures that represent global warming. “Before and after” pictures are highly recommended. For example, you could show a picture of a glacier 30 years ago and a picture of that same glacier today. Below each picture should be a caption that explains what the picture is, and your caption should be descriptive (don’t just say glacier, for example!)
Grading: The project is worth 20 homework points, which is equivalent to about 6 regular homework assignments.
To get full credit, your diagram should contain all of the required items, it should be clean and professional looking.
Your article will likely get full credit unless it is really off topic or inappropriate.
The explanation of your article will get full credit based on how thought provoking, sincere, and relevant your explanation is. You will likely get most or full credit as long as your explanation is well thought out and reasonable.
Your pictures will get full credit based on their quality, the detail in the captions, and their overall relevance to the project.

1. We discussed how convection causes winds between land and ocean and keeps the winters and summers in the bay area mild
2. Mr. Kleiner announced that he was leaving at the end of the semester. Mr. Kleiner loves teaching, but he has other commitments in his life to pursue, one of which is http://singularityhub.com. Mr. Kleiner will miss everyone and he hopes you will all keep in touch with him!
